The Telefacts of Life: Rudolf Modley's Isotypes in American newspapers, 1938–1945

Rudolf Modley brought Isotype to America and syndicated a daily pictorial chart, the Telefact, to newspapers across the country. Most of them were lost. I tracked down and archived hundreds of them, and the essay tells the story of how a Viennese method became a fixture of the American breakfast table.
