The Great London Survey: a tuk-tuk, eight questions, 500 Londoners

For London Data Week we turned a 1980s Piaggio Ape into a mobile data kiosk, painted it yellow, covered it in statistics about the city, and drove it to six locations in two days — Royal Docks, Regent’s Place, King’s College, Church Street Market, the LSE and BrainStation in Shoreditch.

The survey was eight things every Londoner has an opinion about: the Elizabeth line, cycle lanes, foxes, the Royals, apologising for everything, the Greggs sausage roll, London billionaires and tourists. You got a sheet of stickers and a poster with two axes, love–hate and classy–tacky, and you placed yourself. About 500 people did.

Made with Flourish, part of Canva, who also hosted our talk “Data That Moves Us” and a Guerrilla Data Lab at their Hoxton Square HQ. We closed the week with a short data-performance at City Hall for the Data Leaders Summit.
